Rute Ventura is a fine artist born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1982. She graduated with a bachelorʼs degree in Sculpture in 2004 and with a Masters degree in Fine Arts in 2006 from the School of Art and Design in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. Rute started her visual arts education at António Arroio High School of Arts and at the Portuguese National Society of Arts, in Lisbon. In 2005 she received a grand for an abroad program of studies at Accademia di Belli Arti in Venice, Italy. Going back to Italy in 2014 to learn Trompe Lʼoeil techniques at the Accademia del Superfuluo in Rome. As a multidisciplinary artist Venturaʼs artwork range from drawing, painting, sculpture, video, and installation. She is also an art educator. After moving to New York City in 2009 she started working as a teaching artist with the non-profit Doing Art Together, providing art workshops for under-resourced crowds in NY City Public Schools and alternative sites. She also collaborates with the Romare Bearden Foundation, the Pequot Library in CT, the CSEPDC Association in Portugal and the City College of New York. Rute lives and creates her artwork in Ridgewood NY; she became a mother in 2015.
